Remote Workers' Compensation Defense Attorney Job Opening Job#16858441 – Option of working remote or onsite

A growing law firm defending California employers, insurance carriers, and third-party administrators in workers' compensation matters is adding attorneys to its team. Working remotely or from the office, you will manage a full, paperless caseload from initial assignment through final resolution, appearing before the Workers' Compensation Appeals Board at hearings, conferences, and trials. Your work will include taking and defending depositions, including those of medical witnesses, as well as drafting and arguing motions and preparing filings under California workers' compensation law. You will also research statutes and case law, negotiate settlements with an eye toward efficient outcomes, and keep adjusters and clients informed of case strategy and progress. Each attorney is paired with a dedicated legal assistant whose billed time on shared cases counts toward the attorney's total, a collaborative model that supports productivity as well as long-term growth into leadership roles. The compensation package includes a competitive base salary plus a quarterly bonus that is highly attainable thanks to this shared billing structure.

Qualifications
  • A minimum of 1.5 years of California workers' compensation defense experience representing employers, insurance carriers, or third-party administrators, with 2–10 years preferred
  • A Juris Doctor from an accredited law school and an active license with the California State Bar
  • Experience taking depositions, with doctor depositions strongly preferred and first- or second-chair trial experience a plus
  • The ability to independently manage a high-volume caseload in a remote, paperless environment using dictation software, while working collaboratively with legal assistants and presenting a polished, client-facing manner
  • Availability for full-time work without schedule modifications and U.S. work authorization without visa sponsorship, with interest in moving into management a plus
