Strategic Project Lead Job Opening in San Francisco, California - AI Training Environments for Financial Services

Help teach the world’s most advanced AI models to do real, high-stakes knowledge work at an early-stage AI and data startup in San Francisco, where a small team means every hire has an outsized impact. The company builds training environments at the intersection of financial services and frontier AI and partners directly with leading AI labs. As a Strategic Project Lead, you will be one of the key people driving account delivery, running day-to-day delivery of products shipped to lab customers, managing contractors and experiments, acting as a lead product manager who works with engineers to ship features and drive the roadmap, setting expectations with customers and holding every deliverable to a high quality bar, building the documentation, quality guardrails and processes that keep fast project cycles on track, and helping with pricing, revenue modeling and project economics. The package includes a competitive salary plus equity, fully covered healthcare, free meals, a gym membership, free rides through Uber and Waymo, a relocation stipend, a 401(k) with company match, and visa sponsorship for qualified candidates.

Qualifications

• 2 or more years as an Analyst or Associate at a hedge fund (ideally public markets or tech investing) or a top consulting firm, or as an early-stage startup operator or founder; 4 to 6 years is the sweet spot
• Hands-on experience using and building with AI tools such as Codex, Claude Code or Cursor, and the ability to explain what you built and why it matters (using ChatGPT alone does not count)
• Experience producing polished, high-level client deliverables
• A self-starter mindset, shown by a side project, a business you started or something meaningful you built independently
• Experience managing stakeholders or leading project workstreams end to end, including external stakeholders
• Ability to work onsite in San Francisco; candidates currently outside the Bay Area need a clear plan to relocate
• Visa transfers (such as OPT or H1B transfers) are supported, and new visa sponsorship is available for qualified candidates
• Nice to have: early-stage startup experience or entrepreneurial side projects, a degree from a program that places into investment banking, consulting or private equity, or a technical or computer science degree

Location

• San Francisco gives you kayaking on the bay, trails through the Presidio and weekend ski trips to Tahoe. Housing options run from downtown lofts to Victorian flats in Hayes Valley, and Stanford, Berkeley and UCSF are close by. It is also the capital of the AI industry, with labs, investors and fast-growing startups all within a few miles.
